Another weekend that kept me smiling to glory :)
I was in too much of an enthu-wanna have a laugh mood friday night and tortured my roomies by not letting them sleep till almost 3. So saturday we had a late beginning.
After a superb ride on the mysore road for 3 hrs on the not-so-good local buses, we found to our disappointments that KRS was closed from public due to the Kaveri issues even after almost a week.
A lovely ride like a kid on the tonga :D I waved hands and posed to some foreigners who wanted a sneak peek of our India!! :) I represented a typical Indian :) wow. I know what you are thinking - a typical kid, that was what i felt that day too :D
It was 5 in the evening. And we did not have much of a choice and ended up going to Chamundeshwari hills. The roads were simply superb. I wished i had a bike/car that day desperately. Chamundeshwari was quite a beauty. We paid 20 rs for a special entrance which was anyway equivalent to a normal darshan. I did not expect to see such a crowd on such an evening/ night(?).
An oc ride in a black santro, a view of the mysore city lights, walk on the parapet walls of the hill roads :), a peek of the cute nandi, visit to the 'most happening' planetx of mysore (just another go-carting, disc, restaurant, video games, snookers place. but something new to mysore), tandoori food at parklane with a bit of kadalai with a good-looking guy/doctor after a real long time, boring talks of medicine and testing, a good night's sleep (snore... zz..........)
Infosys, Mysore was a mini-resort. WOW. What facilities!!! The multiplex was running Eklavya- the latest movie on screens, a very cheap bowling center (45 rs per head!!), a beautiful swimming pool that was truely clear and BLUE with all the multi colored umbrellas and easy chairs, a few good looking men swimming ;). They have great restaurants and juice centres and super markets. Rest rooms with steam rooms and lockers, wash rooms with so many washing machines. After almost 15 years i rode a bicycle!! Up and down the hilly place :) It was one helluva great place!!
Mysore palace - such magnificence and beauty. The museum has collections of even the hair clips of lady wodeyars. I was thinking, if my hair clip was broke, it would go to the bin and not as an antique in a museum :( sad :((((
To sum-up, mysore was a feast to my oggling nature, and a quencher of certain thirsts - my first tonga ride and first bowling lessons!! :)

Such a pity :(
Great expectations. Unplanned activities. Flops. I guess that should explain it all.
THis saturday we went to a place called Mekhadattu(goats leap). Its about 90 km on kanakapura road from blr.
Wonderful bike ride!! Songs like khalbali and roo ba roo to keep the mood :)
Friends who want to experiment all the funny things that any heroine or hero would do on a movie - riding standing on bike, with both hands flying in the air, hooting out of joy, stopping for a tender coconut, monkeys (my friends) climbing the 'unclimbable' Banyan tree - well, its a must for all bike lovers.
We reached the much awaited spot after a couple of hours. My over-enthusiastic friends wanted to walk along the path for 4 to 5 kms in the hot/scorching sun at around 1.30pm.
Pity number 1:
It was such a beauty to watch leafless brown trees all over the place leaving no room for the sun to take rest!!
Pity number 2:
It is such a pity that such a beautiful place is also famous for suicides!! :(
Pity number 3.:
It is so rocky, that one slip can really prove fatal.
But young hearts always prefer to take risks to enjoy the day. We were no exceptions. We played in the water. Man the fishes were so huge, so close, and so many, that even the most dumbest of fishermen can get quite a catch.
Pity number 4?:
Of course we were scared of getting fish bites (does it sound like love bites ;) well i will give this a 50-50 chance.
Pity number 5: My over-protective friend refused to let us get into the water even though we all know swimming - for fear of the place and people :((
pity number 6:
Well, i was done with all my energy used up. we paid Rs 20 per head, for a 3-in-1 ride. Well, what else can you call a 'bus journey' in a 'dog-van' that gives you a 'roller coaster' effect?
Last but not the least, and the most important!!
pity number 7:
for the first time in my life, someone told me on my face that his bike would not be able to pull me through the hill!! :(((( and meant it!!! (!.!) me crying :(( and hence could be my last trip on bikes for now :((
Well its all in the game!! :)
Never the less, for all those enthusiasts who would want to spend their pent up energies and exhaust yourself, this one is a true beauty to be rejoiced.
P.S: you can see holes in rocks carved beautifully by the force of the waters. It is possible to cross and go over to the other bank. We did not due to the over protective nature of our friends. But if you choose to go to this place, do try going to the source of the water falls. You can see the fishes jumping and the foam of the water kising you on your face!! :)

Exciting but small weekend at hyderabad
The beautiful Birla Mandir with the view of clear Hussain Sagar lake with the Budha statue at its center; the necklace road; charminar- the phony, photogenic beauty; bangles shopping for bangles that i am sure not to wear; Racing at 30 km speed at go-carting @Runway 9 :), shooting, archery, skating, rock-climbing; A late night drive to my friends place; Chat of old times and recent pasts, making a recollection of the times spent together and missed with my best buddy (alias a sleepless night); a superb and tasty breakfast at Baristas; shopping at central; watching cute frederer win the australian open while waiting for the 2 hour delayed train; THE LONGEST journey in the "SUPER FAST" express*!! ; getting caught red-handed with my dad for being in hyderabad when he went to my home at Bangalore :) ....
Bottom line - Hyderabad was just another Hot and Sweet Tomato sauce to me!!!
P.S: *The train which should have departed Hyd at 15:40 hours on Sunday arrived Hyd at 18:30 hours and waited for all the trains like Rajdhani express, bangalore express to leave and clear the track. So technically it left hyd at 20:00 hours!!!
It was probably travelling at 20 kms speed (note: slower than my rate at go-carting) and called itself the "Gorakhpur-Bangalore SUPER FAST EXPRESS"!!!!

A trek to the peaks of Savan Durga

Jan 21st, 2007. The day of probably my first and last trek!!
Hard rocks, scorching sun, thriving cacti, brown, brown and brown everywhere, white arrow marks, crawls out of fear, pants for breathe, sore feet without socks, no sun tans only sun BURNS, a rare love with a rock that gives you shadow, a most-welcomed kulfi, a view of the city, greed to find some blue and green (water and trees), realisation of the importance of saving drinking water!! That's savan durga in short for you.
3 bikes, 6 fun-lovers, set out on a long awaited trek trip!!
Red colour masala dosas for friends, liquid dhal rice in the name of pongal, sweet sambar (ever heard of it? I had it. So believe it!) safe and best choice of idli and vada.
5 bucks/head for a lousy lou.
beautiful native dance for the gods in a local temple. tempting folklore music.
White mark guides without which you seem lost.
A couple of monkeys jumping around to get the most adventurous trek(sanThu and bugs), a couple of buddas(sow and dhoom 2*) finding match in their lethargies.. one pitiable boy(roki) stuck with pessimistic me :D
My love with a lonely rock that gave some shade. !!
The little green you could find was a pricking cacti here and there.
Water was heaven!!!
After about 3 or more hours of the so called trekking we reached the top!! to find a lone nandi sitting in a shade. The haven for almost an hour.
I lay down by the side of nandi and hugged it tight :)
Pleasant breeze, kulfi FEAST, jokes and laughters, jabberings of the non-stop jabbers - NOTHING can compare the moment of BLISS!!
Photos. Poses. Modelling?? Nope. Just memories :)
The way down was one of fun. We were singing group songs for motivation.
"WHo let the BUGS out?? ohh ooohh"
"aelaelo ayilasaaa"
temporary speed breaker (thanks to sanTHU) to stop my unstoppable jog down the hill :)
2 straws - 2 tender coconuts - one mouth (mine) at once!! (not the one coconut-2 straws-2 mouths of tamil cinemas)
the most rocky roads on a bumper less bike with roki whose only thought in mind was to get home b4 he fell asleep on the road!!!
*bike racing by dhoom 2(phani) at 30 km speed on a 2-month old black pulsar :) just kidding da..
4-5 acres wide 300 yr old Big banyan tree.
tasty cucumber to fill the temporary HUNGER
free sights of romances of lover boys in the park ;)
a 50 km drive on the most horrid wreckless roadless roads to speed on the 10 km stretch of beautiful Mysore Road!!!
A journey that cant be stopped by none - not even signals ;)
Home. At last!!!
i could not climb my own stairs!! need a push from Roki. :)
Ruined mass. Broken bones. I generally say i would like to be battered and bruised by the end of the day. May be because it never happened. Now it did!! And i wonder if i would ever want to say that again :)
Bottom line - a most-waited-for, never-to-be-repeated, must-to-be-experienced-atleast-once trip :)
